What is Solitaire?

Solitaire, also known as Klondike Solitaire, is a single-player card game where the goal is to organize all 52 cards into four foundation piles, building from Ace to King in each suit.

How do I win the game?

To win, you need to build all four foundation piles from Ace to King, one for each suit (♠, ♥, ♦, ♣). The game will automatically detect when you've won.

Game Controls

How do I move cards?

You can move cards in three ways: Click to select a card, then click where you want to move it; drag and drop cards between piles; or double-click a card to auto-move it to the best location.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

Use N for New Game, U for Undo, H for Hint, and Escape to close overlays. These shortcuts work anywhere on the game page.

How does drag and drop work?

Click and hold on any face-up card, then drag it to another pile. The game will show visual feedback for valid drop zones. You can drag entire sequences of cards at once.

What does double-click do?

Double-clicking a card will automatically move it to the best available location. It will first try to move to a foundation pile, then to a tableau pile if possible.

Game Features

How does the scoring system work?

You earn 10 points for each successful card move and 5 points for revealing a face-down card. The goal is to complete the game with the highest score possible.

Can I undo my moves?

Yes! You can undo up to 50 moves using the Undo button or by pressing U on your keyboard. This helps you correct mistakes and try different strategies.

How does the hint system work?

Click the Hint button or press H to get a helpful suggestion for your next move. The hint system will suggest the best available move to help you progress.

Can I save my game progress?

Currently, the game doesn't save progress between sessions, but you can use the undo function to correct mistakes during gameplay. Each game is a fresh start.

Game Rules

What are the foundation piles?

Foundation piles are the four areas at the top where you build from Ace to King in the same suit. Only Aces can start a foundation pile, and you must build in ascending order.

What are the tableau piles?

Tableau piles are the seven main playing areas where you build descending sequences in alternating colors. Only Kings can be placed on empty tableau spaces.

How does the stock pile work?

The stock pile contains the remaining cards. Click it to draw one card at a time to the waste pile. When empty, click it again to reset from the waste pile.

Can I move multiple cards at once?

Yes! You can move entire sequences of face-up cards together as long as they form a valid descending sequence in alternating colors.
